Watching the premier now. Pretty good remake... I remember the original very well, and liked it a lot.

I dig the cast. Alan Tudyk is awesome, Morena Baccarin is awesome, and I'm waiting for Nathan Fillian to walk on the screen any moment.

Hopefully this will turn out awesome.

V was pretty decent, but who knows what they'll do beyond the pilot. I spent most of the time trying to figure out which modern characters would correlate to which circa-1983 characters. I'm such a fan of the original series that I doubt this will measure up, but I'm willing to be open minded. I've given Flash Forward six episodes or so thus far, I think I can extend the same courtesy to V.

Agreed. I do not defend the ending nor general last half of the series. But the beginning of it is still fantastic.

Honestly looking back, BSG went bad Season 3. Sorry, I know you guys loved it, but the decision to do the whole occupation thing on New Caprica, aside from its silly real-world political motivation, was atrociously bad. It made no sense whatsoever and threw the entire plot up till that point on its head for no good reason.

You know what character arc I liked throughout the entire show? Boomer. In TV and movies, we don't see enough "good guys" just up and go over to the other side completely. We see it all the time with reformed villains who, due to a change of circumstance, selfishly choose to jump ship. It was a nice change up that the writers never had her come back to Galactica, no matter how many times they teased it.

I enjoyed the pilot, but almost exclusively because of the nostalgia from the original. I'm not sure that will carry the series for me.

I’m sure most of you will remember that annoying, spoilt, little cunt from school. Because his parents knew he was an annoying little cunt, they made sure she/he had all the best toys and threw the best birthday parties so the other kids will like her/him. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you were probably the cunt (or grew up in a poor neighbourhood). Think Eric Cartman.

This V remake feels a little like that kid to me. The producers have given it all the best toys; a remake of a cult show, filled with actors from other cult shows. It will be watched even if it’s an annoying cunt.

That said, I will keep watching, for a wee bit at least.

I just watched the BSG Pilot. Well, the three hour miniseries that they first aired. The camera work drove me crazy. Why the hell can't they just set the camera down and roll the film instead of doing the shakey, zoom in, back out, slow swing around the room shit? Does it stay like that for the series or was that just artsy miniseries stuff?

Also, I fucking hate the Starbuck character and the president chick. Do they both mellow out? A lot? Why is it that every time a sci fi show tries to make a strong female role, they turn her into a bitch instead of just a strong, likable woman? See Captain Janeway for another example. I couldn't watch Voyager because of her.

I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. At this point I'm going to watch a few more and see what happens, but I'm not sold yet. If the camera shit doesn't stop, I won't be able to keep watching, even if I like the story.

On topic: V will be available on Hulu this Saturday for anyone who missed it.

they sorta started the trend. It does add a bit when not overused.

The reason why directors/producers *love* it because they can go with cheapier cgi effects. So they can make nice cgi then use the camera effects to hide any flaws.

So for the money reasons alone a lot of shows have adopted the style.

i watched this as well...wasnt overly impressed, but will keep watching. was also digging the tudyk appearance.

and that last 2 minutes of season 2 of bsg is what did it in for me. i will definitely admit to creaming my pants during the rescue of new caprica...but it never really seemed to recover after that (except when the blind lawyer showed up). i do my best to pretend the ending didnt actually happen, and it got cancelled midseason.

I do see that Kenneth Johnson has a lot to do with this...which bodes well for this series...

The whole time I watched this episode, I wanted to compare it to the original series. At the end, when I stepped back and realized that this is its own series, it was entertaining, as long as I didn't compare and question things too much.

I'll keep watching I think....
