Cormac McCarthy Novels

I've read No Country and The Road, of course. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on his past work. I was thinking of jumping back a bit and reading the border trilogy in order (All the Pretty Horses, The Crossing, Cities of The plain) but wanted to ask if anyone read one of the earlier ones and found it so good I should read one of those (The Orchard Keeper, Outer Dark, Child of God, Suttree, Blood Meridian, Or the Evening Redness in the West) before locking myself into the trilogy

and yet, very fucking hard to grasp in its entirety. Stephen King even said it's probably his favorite Cormac novel and he cant even make much out of it. Whatever that means.

Wow is it hard to get your hands on a copy. Amazon has paperbacks going for 25, and even 50 bucks

another vote for blood meridian. i've read suttree also, which is pretty good. lots of humor, which is a bit unusual for mccarthy. now i'm reading all the pretty horses and, while it's good, its definitely not his best. still really good, though, just so we're clear.
